  1. Purpose and Vision

    The Health Mela serves a dual purpose:

    • Community Outreach: Providing basic healthcare services, screenings, and awareness programs to local residents.
    • Student Engagement: Offering medical and paramedical students practical experience in community health, communication, and public service.
  2. Student-Led Organization

    The Health Mela is coordinated by students under the guidance of faculty from the departments of Community Medicine, General Medicine, Pediatrics, and other clinical specialties.

    • Setting up health stalls
    • Interacting with the public
    • Conducting awareness sessions
    • Maintaining patient records and referrals
  3. Key Activities
    • Free Health Check-ups: Blood pressure, blood sugar, BMI, hemoglobin, and eye check-ups.
    • Health Awareness Booths: Information on diseases like diabetes, hypertension, anemia, malnutrition, and reproductive health.
    • Counseling Sessions: Mental health awareness, tobacco/alcohol de-addiction counseling, nutrition guidance.
    • Demonstrations: First-aid training, handwashing techniques, and CPR demos.
    • Health Quiz & Poster Displays: Interactive tools to educate and engage the public, often designed and presented by students.

    The Health Mela creates a direct link between NMCH Patna and the community it serves. Hundreds of beneficiaries, including rural families, laborers, schoolchildren, and senior citizens, attend each year.
